Welcome and Namaste, to Anita’s world of cooking.
Let me introduce myself as I am very new to Toronto.
My full name is Anita Jagtiani.
I was born and brought up in Mumbai –India. Got married at an early age of 19 and flew to Guam with my Husband, spent 4 years and moved to Moscow since 1995 and then now in Toronto, Ontario.
Just like most of the Canadians are either baking at 5 or 6 years, I started to learn all about my mom’s cooking and tips by the age of 9.
Our first lesson was the most difficult one – Kneading the dough for our bread called Chapattis. Then once you achieve that the second most tedious one was making it a perfect round.
I remember how once my sister and me burnt the onions, threw them away quickly and started afresh by chopping a new one.
Slowly, then we were experts at doing the basics which I would call the Level 1.
Then we went on to the more complicated dishes where Lamb, chicken and seafood was involved.
Believe it or not, my Lamb curry still is good but my mom’s – still beyond comparison……YUMMMMMMY.
In Moscow, I decided that I have to do something. Having twin children I wanted something part time.
So guess what……..I joined something called the International Women’s Club in Moscow and after 4 successful years of cooking with Ladies from all over the world have now moved to Canada and want to pursue the same and share with you all the secret recipes of the most popular Rich and creamy Butter chicken, Onion Bhajiyas and the most popular street food called Wada Pav.
Hope you will give this new comer a chance to show her skills and I look forward to meeting new people and giving them my best of abilities.
